General Dentistry Coral Gables
Dr. Faustino Garcia and Dr. Oliver Mayoral are known throughout Miami for providing general dentistry to the entire family in a friendly, professional manner. Regardless of whether you are a regular patient or have let a significant amount of time lapse since your last appointment, the entire Garcia-Mayoral Dentistry team will work with you to create a healthier, cleaner smile and set you on a path for ongoing strong oral health.
Regular Cleanings and Examinations
Every six months, it is critical for patients to have a dental checkup. The first component of this appointment is a professional-grade cleaning. Although the health of your teeth depends largely on regular brushing and flossing, these habits alone will not offer the same kind of deep clean possible with professional dentist equipment.
At your appointment, our doctors and hygienists will scrape off the plaque and tartar that brushing does not adequately address, as well as reach spots that even traditional flossing cannot touch. They will also use fluoride to strengthen the enamel on your teeth.
The second component of this checkup is to look for any issues you may have with your teeth and gums. Dental problems such as cavities and gum disease are much easier to treat when detected early, which is why it is imperative to keep your biannual appointments.
These examinations also provide you with an opportunity to mention any potential issues you have noticed like sensitivity or pain, so that our doctors can pay added attention to those concerns. If your examination turns up anything that needs further attention, Drs. Garcia and Mayoral are prepared to provide you with the care you need in an expedient manner.
The doctors will also use this opportunity to quickly screen you for oral cancer. Since the symptoms are difficult to detect on your own, it is good to have a professional look and verify that your mouth is cancer-free.
X-Rays
Following an examination, our doctors may suggest X-rays to get a better look at the health of your gums and teeth beyond what is readily visible. Our office has state-of-the-art traditional and digital X-ray capabilities to accurately diagnose any potential issues.
Fillings
Even the most diligent brushers will occasionally get a cavity — the key is to find it early to stop the decay and ultimately prevent the tooth from falling out. In addition to the traditional silver amalgam fillings, we also offer fillings made of ceramic and plastic compounds that are tooth-colored and far less noticeable in your mouth. Both of these fillings can be completed in a single visit to our office, and both are known to last more than 10 years.
Schedule an Appointment
If it has been more than six months since your last dental checkup, then you are overdue for a cleaning and examination. The best ways to avoid having to undergo the more involved restorative dentistry procedures is to come in for regular teeth and gum maintenance and to brush and floss every day at home.
